| Freshman outfielder is an exciting young player. Two-sport athlete who doubles as a running back on the football team. Possesses a big-time right-handed bat capable of hitting for both average and power. Also one of the fastest players on the team. Can play all three outfield positions and projects as a center fielder in the future. Great speed and excellent eye at the plate make Gerhart an attractive option as a leadoff hitter. Could start in left field as a freshman. California All-State player as a high school junior and senior. Rated as the 50th best high school senior prospect in the country by Baseball America in 2006. Was the second-leading rusher on the '06 Cardinal football squad. Saw action in all 12 games and carried the ball 106 times for 375 yards. |
