| Biography: |
| Sophomore infielder/pitcher poised for a breakout season offensively. Was used more as a relief pitcher as a freshman appearing in 16 games out of the bullpen. Compiled a 4-0 record with a team-best 2.84 ERA and one save in 25 innings. Throws a fastball that tops out in the upper 80's to go along with a number of off-speed pitches. Possesses good control and should again be used in some big spots out of the bullpen this season. Biggest improvement should be found offensively. Yount started nine games at the plate last year and hit .139 with three doubles, one home run, and seven RBI in 36 at-bats. Was one of the top hitters on the team during Fall Ball and preseason workouts. Expected to take over the starting job at second base. Was a High School All-American and the Arizona Player of the Year as a junior. High school teammates of Cory Bannister and the nephew of Hall of Famer Robin Yount. |
