| Consistent in all aspects of his game throughout college, Newton is a solid third tight end at the next level. |
| Biography: |
Three-year starter who was honorable mention All-Conference after
the ‘06 and ‘04 campaigns. Totals last season were 36/466/7. Missed
the ’05 season after rupturing a tendon in his foot. Junior totals
were a career-best 56/687/7.
Pos:
Athletic tight end with a complete game. Fluid releasing into
routes, extends his hands and gets up in a crowd for the difficult
grab. Uses his frame to shield away opponents, and is a solid
hand-catcher. Tough blocker who keeps his head on a swivel and is
always looking for someone to hit.
Neg:
Marginal speed, quickness and looks sluggish. Works blocks but not
dominant nor a true finisher. |
