| Very comparable to Washington signee Jake Locker. Solid size,
good strength at his position, but his mobility and feet are what sets him apart. Great
straight-line speed and is very good at making would-be tacklers miss. Will most
likely get a shot at QB first in college, but is also an exceptional safety. |
| Biography: |
Senior: Led the Trojans to an undefeated 2006 regular season and 12-1 record before losing in the state semifinals. At quarterback he threw for 1,020 yards on 57-of-99 passing (58% completions), with 13 touchdowns against five interceptions. He also ran for another 23 touchdowns and 973 yards. On defense at safety, he notched 57 tackles and four interceptions. He also kicked 56-of-59 extra points while punting for a 39.7-yard average. Earned offensive MVP and defensive MVP honors for his league, while being recognized as First-Team All-State by the AP at both quarterback and defensive back.
Junior: A super athlete who was named South Puget Sound League-North offensive AND defensive back of the year by the Seattle Times in 2005. Also named All-Area at DB by the Times. A dual-threat QB who produced 1,487 yards of offense in 2005, rushing for 837 and passing for 650. He collected 14 TDs on the ground and passed for another three in Auburn's ground-oriented spread-T offense. Completed 50 percent of his passes, hitting on 39 of 78 attempts. He also stars at safety, where he has twice been named first-team all-league. In 2005 he made 45 solo tackles, had 15 assists and intercepted four passes.
Ran the 40-yard shuttle in 4.65 seconds at a combine in Oregon. Squats over 500 pounds. Holds a 4.0 grade point average. Also a star lefty pitcher in baseball. His dad, Kjel, was an all-state tackle at Spokane's Ferris High and starred at the University of Idaho in the early 70s. |
