This Stanford baseball team, particularly with its juniors and seniors, wanted to get back to a title game in the College World Series and right the wrongs left lingering from the 2001 shellacking. What they didn't want to happen was a repeat defeat of the same magnitude, which played out today in a 14-2 loss to Rice. Stanford pitchers walked 12 Owl batters and afterward walked away from Omaha again without a title.
