Use Your Delusion II

You had to be in the room to truly appreciate it. Coach Shaw walked into the tiny bunker of a media room just outside the Stanford Stadium tunnel and sat with shoulders more slumped than at any point this I’d seen this year. He gave answers bereft of most of the stubborn defiance so many had grown accustomed to all year long.

Big Game Sound Bites

“I want to embarrass Stanford. I will live in Palo Alto if we lose to Stanford.”- Brian Treggs may be responsible for the most infamous soundbite in Big Game history, but what other quotes through the decades sum up the legendary Cal-Stanford rivalry?

McCaffrey was a positive, but not enough

Card, Utes scoreless in second half

"[H]onestly, today’s play calls have been okay thus far. We went for fourth and short – and with a beautiful call at that – on our one touchdown, we’ve been mixing up pass and run well enough, and trying to feed McCaffrey and Montgomery the best we can. ... Still, we are at home, we are nearly through three quarters, and we are under 200 yards. Hard to put a bright face on this one."

The Final Stretch: Utah 20, Stanford 17 (2OT)

This loss is representative of the season: a painful, last-minute affair as the D hung on valiantly, but the offense could never seize control. We track our blog of the last five minutes and the two overtimes, and tally each Stanford miscue. The results suggest the nature of the problems that have plagued the team for the whole season. Card wallop Bledsoe, WSU this week in 1992

This Week in Stanford History owns fond memories of games involving Drew Bledsoe: The next time he endured punishment like what Stanford handed out, he lost his job to Tom Brady.

Stanford Basketball Preview/Review: November

Year seven of the Johnny Dawkins Era tips off late Friday night at Maples. The Cardinal starts the season with certainty in the starting backcourt and uncertainty virtually everywhere else. After years of being a better defensive team than an offensive team, Stanford flipped the script last year and ended up in the Sweet Sixteen.
