"Fall Ball Fire-up" w/ Jim Harbaugh!
Stanford Football's Head Coach Jim "EUTM" Harbaugh
has expressed not just a willingness, but a strong desire to get together with
some of our program's most enthusiastic and loyal fans for an extended, yet
casual off-campus Q & A session. Such an outstanding opportunity is now upon
us as we all get pumped up for the opening of the Cardinal's 2009 fall camp.
While this is not a "Bootleg-specific" event, we are strongly
encouraging Bay Area Booties to attend this unique session that has been
arranged with the preeminent pigskin-passion-promoting personage, the
man who proudly is leading the steady ascension of our beloved football
program to Pac-10- and BCS-championship form. Notice of this event will also be
communicated through EUTM's Twitter account. Coach Harbaugh is looking forward
to getting to know some of the Bootleg "handles" he will recognize - we will
have nametags available for those willing to be "cognito". Less-conspicuous
"lurkers" will be tolerated. Former "Chief Bootie", the incomparable "ME-97"
will be in the house so you can tell him how much you miss him and give him a
man-hug!
Date: Saturday, August 8,
2009
Time: 1:00PM (officially, but come early for
"no-host" food and beverage)
Venue: The
"Alpine Inn" (aka "Rosatti's" and "Zott's")
Address: 3915 Alpine Road in Portola Valley, CA.
(650) 854-4004
Directions:
From 280 North or 280 South, take the "Alpine Road" Exit and head west past the
Ladera shopping center and wind up into the hills for a few minutes. The Alpine
Inn is on the left before you reach the Alpine Hills Country Club. Ample free
parking, just like at Stanford Stadium.
Pre-Event Boot-Gathering:
"Emeritus" and others will be starting at 11:00am (Get it, "Starting
Eleven"?) in order to stake out ample territory in the back beer
garden.
What to Bring:
"Non-Cal friends", sunscreen, complaints about our men's basketball recruiting
coverage, and plenty of cash money for beer, burgers and, should you get
inspired, sizable donations to the Buck/Cardinal Club.
What Not to Bring: Even
moderately-attractive college-age daughters, homework, a piss-poor attitude,
swine flu, a Riedel wine glass.
What to Wear:
Stanford football attire. "BuddyBall"
baseball hats. "Bring Back the Indian" golf hats. Unless it says "Michigan",
wearing "blue" could well get you tossed over the six-foot fence - unless your
shirt is accompanied by an old school mechanic's sewn-on name badge.
Even More
Incentives: There may be some trivia games, contests, prizes,
BootGearâ„¢ etc. - We shall
see.
