She did not have the most successful McDonald's All-American Game, but Stanford-bound Michelle Harrison showed that week in San Diego that she can shoot the basketball. We saw it in practices from the 6'2" wing, and everybody saw it when she won the Team Ball competition at the Jam Fest. Paired with UCLA-bound James Keefe, Harrison carried her team to victory, and we have the video.

The Team Ball competition was the least acclaimed of the three events at the McDonald's All-American Jam Fest in San Diego (Calif.), despite the fact that it best resembles actual basketball activity in a college practice or game.  The competition designates spots on the floor at different shooting ranges, where point values correspond with the level of difficulty.  Hitting a shot under the basket nets a paltry two points, while a three-pointer in the corner or on the wing earns a shooter eight points.  A jumper just behind the free throw line is worth five points, while a shot at the "elbow" is given seven points.

Two of the most accurate, though curiously super-sized, shooters heading to the Pac-10 this fall were paired for this competition.  It did not surprise us to see 6'2" wing Michelle Harrison from Orem (Utah) and 6'8" forward James Keefe from Santa Margarita (Calif.) take home the hardware.  The Stanford-bound girl and UCLA-bound boy tied atop the leaderboard in the opening round with 42 points, and then they won the finals with 46 points (incorrectly announced as 41 points).  What surprised us somewhat was to see Harrison carry the victory in a competition that shot with the larger boys basketball.  She hit four of the team's seven shots in the opening round, for 27 of their 42 points.  In the finals, she was hotter still with 36 of their 46 points.  See Harrison and Keefe in action with this exclusive video of their winning marksmanship in San Diego.
