He already has picked up one First Team All-American honor this year, and though his stats may not match up to his historic sophomore campaign, Jed Lowrie is enjoying a season that has him positioned for an early draft selection next week. We talked this week with the charismatic Stanford junior about his prospects for pro baseball - offense and defense - and much more.

He was a lightly recruited and regarded player out of high school but surprised us by grabbing the starting job at second base midway through his freshman year.  Lowrie was a solid hitter who had a big post-season, but nobody could have guessed the power and average he would hit as a sophomore.  The Stanford standout earned an armful of All-American honors for a 2004 season where he hit .39...
