TheBootleg.com
Week in Review
(Week ending 01/13/02)
TheBootleg.com logged a very busy publishing week
as we tried to keep Cardinalmaniacs™ abreast of all the
happenings within Stanford athletics.
The Final 2001
Football BootPool Results were released. Muiron was the
season winner, beating out Querty49, Cliff Speed, ME-97 Hottie
and Lars82 by only two points. Querty49 won the bowl portion of
the BootPool, picking 17 of 25 bowl games correctly against the
spread. Interestingly, ME-97 finished a disappointing 24th, in
the middle of the pack!
The results from the first week of the 2002 Hoops
BootPool were also released. There is a 4-way tie for first
(SL, Steve Durrett, Row26 and nobadeer).
JJ contributed a comprehensive pre-season
baseball analysis in his Pac-10 and
National Baseball Preview. He looks at each of the teams in
the Pac-10 as well as his top 16 teams nationally. Great reading
that should be printed out and kept on the nightstand!
Late Tuesday afternoon, while Gary Radnich was
reporting that Mike Riley was our new coach, TheBootleg.com
broke the story that Buddy Teevens would become the new head
football coach at Stanford. ME-97 wrote the story - Buddy Teevens
Era Begins at Stanford.
On to basketball, as CJ made his debut as a Bootleg
writer with Stanford
Hoops: Peeling Back the Onion. CJ's corner will become a
weekly feature on TheBootleg.com during basketball season.
Also, Tree Boy returns with Hoops
BootPowerRatings. The BootComputer is not completely sold on
Stanford yet.
ME-97 went back to the tape and analyzed Julius
Barnes' scoring barrage in Stanford's victory over kal last
Friday night - Uncorking
Julius.
Also, bFunk perviewed our Thursday night
opponents - Oregon State
Preview.
Rainman provided the recap of the victory over
Oregon State - Beavers
Bounced in 2nd Half Run.
With the events of the past week, we saw a
collection of some of the best posts ever on our boards. Posts of the
Week recognize four of these - they were authored by TLV,
Roble Hall, Treetop and Hulk01.
Stan4Hoops' Oregon
Preview looked at our tough match-up with the Ducks at Mac
Court on Saturday afternoon.
The publishing highlight of the week was Friday's
Football
Parents Speak Out, a collection of thought-provoking comments
from parents of current players. They discuss the virtues of
their sons attending Stanford on football scholarships. ME-97 did
an outstanding job of putting this masterpiece together!
Finally, YCF was stuck with reporting on our
hoops team's latest setback, this time to Oregon - Another 10
Game Winning Streak Snapped.
