2013 Stanford Radio Preview: Special Teams

Stanford's special teams unit decided several critical junctures for the team in 2012. Jordan Williamson's famous overtime kick at Autzen Stadium immediately comes to mind. We don't forget Daniel Zychlinksi and Drew Terrell during our extensive 2013 special teams preview.

Stanford must replace both ends of the punting game in 2013. Punter Daniel Zychlinski and returner Drew Terrell were both excellent in 2012. Ben Rhyne has been named the replacement at the former position; Kodi Whitfield, Barry Sanders, and Ty Montgomery are candidates at the latter spot.

Jordan Williamson returns as the placekicker, while the Cardinal hope to get a home run threat on kickoff returns from a healthy Ty Montgomery. Stanford led the Pac-12 in kick coverage last season, and Pete Alamar's crew will try to maintain that performance despite the loss of leading "wild guy" Alex Debniak.
