Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck expressed excitement when asked what it will be like to work with offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton again. Hamilton was Luck's offensive coordinator in college at Stanford and was recently hired for the same position with the Colts. Hamilton replaces Bruce Arians, who was hired to be the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
“He’s a great quality human being. He’s going to work his butt off on the game plan, on football," Luck said in a media conference call Thursday. "I’ve always had a great relationship with him, I think he’s a great people person. So it’s very exciting. Obviously it stinks that Bruce (Arians) had to leave but we’re all incredibly happy for him. I don’t know if anyone deserves a head coaching job as much as he does. But I’m very, very happy for Pep to be here now.”
Though Luck is familiar with what Hamilton brings to the offense, he is hoping the team will blend his style with Arians' due to the fact that the rookie quarterback was able to have a ton of success this past season.
“I got to be on the offense for four years (with Hamilton), so obviously the comfort level is fairly high," Luck said. "There’s a lot of great things that (Bruce Arians) did that hopefully we’ll keep around and continue to do and then to add what Pep (Hamilton) knows how to teach, what he can coach. So it will be a great offense.
