With National Signing Day just a few short weeks away, Laguna Beach (Calif.) safety Drake Martinez is taking his final visits and narrowing down his options.
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound prospect holds offers from Nebraska, Michigan State, and San Diego State, and has plans to take his final visit next week.
"I'm going to Michigan State for my official visit on February 1st," he said.
Martinez has previously taken a visit to Nebraska and really enjoyed his time on the Huskers' campus, though he's no stranger to the program.
"My visit to Nebraska was really fun. I got to see my brother [quarterback Taylor Martinez] down there and got to hang out with him a lot; he was my host for the weekend," he said.
Though he has no currently plans to visit the Aztecs, Martinez did reiterate that it's not for lack of interest.
"They haven't been in contact with me lately, but I do have an interest in them. It's close to home," he said.
For now, Martinez has no set plans for Signing Day, though he'll likely wait until February 6th to announce his collegiate decision.
In the meantime, the prospect has been keeping busy, including an appearance in Monday's Canyon Coast All-Star Game.
"It was really fun, we had nice practices all week. We didn't execute as well as we would have liked today, but it's been fun," he said.
Martinez relished in the opportunity to use his on the field talents one final time in his high school career.
"My instincts on the field are probably my best strength as a player. With every week, our coach told us to build on every play and on every game, so that's what I did. I brought that to this All-Star Game, as well," he said.
