Post-Rose Bowl Locker Room Lowdown: OLB Trent Murphy
Listen to Audio
In Stanford's celebratory post-game locker room,
we grabbed a few minutes with redshirt junior outside
linebacker Trent Murphy, one of the more impressive player
development stories of the 2013 season - and not only because he was
selected as the "honorary carver" at this year's Lawry's Beef Bowl!
The Bootleg had observed that Trent was manhandling our own offensive line
throughout the 2012 Spring game and had expected him to have a huge year, but he
went out and earned third-team AP All-American honors, book-ending with
All-American senior Chase Thomas to form the most formidible
outside linebacking duo in all of college football - an embarassment of riches
when you consider that Stanford's remarkable defense sports additional studs like
Shayne Skov and A.J. Tarpley on the inside and outstanding depth with Jerek Lancaster, Alex Debniak, James Vaughters, etc. At this time, we expect Trent to return for one more
big year, but if we were a professional football franchise, we would
sure like having this talented and likeable guy
on our squad.
