Saturday: CIF State Football Championship Division III Bowl Game- San Diego (Calif.) Madison vs. Kentfield (Calif.) Marin Catholic at
Home Depot Center at 12:00 p.m.
Madison has a pair of Arizona commitments leading the way. Running back Pierre Cormier is one of the most explosive backs in the region and rushed for 1,976 yards and 26 touchdowns. Cormier committed to the Cats over Washington, UCLA and several others.
Fellow UA commit Lee Walker is an explosive receiver and return man and caught 11 touchdowns this past season. Junior defensive back/receiver Michael Garner has already been offered by Arizona and could play on either side of the ball in college.
Marin Catholic has one of the nation's top quarterbacks in Jared Goff. Goff had a strong showing at the Elite 11 QB Camp in the summer and had a big season throwing for 3,430 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Offensive lineman Gunnar Graham is a Colorado commit and was the league lineman of the year. Junior receiver Andrew Celis
is Goff's favorite target and is a talented cornerback as well. He caught 66
balls for 1,179 yards and nine touchdowns this past season.
Saturday: CIF State Football Championship Division II Bowl Game- Gardena (Calif.) Serra vs. Oakdale
(Calif.) at Home Depot Center at 4:00 p.m.
Serra is loaded with underclassmen including potentially the top prospect in the state next fall.
Defensive back Adoree Jackson is an elite corner with huge upside. He could be the state's top corner right now and is one of the nation's top long jumpers as well.
Junior linebacker Dwight Williams is an athlete who can run and hit and will have double digit scholarship offers by the end of the spring. Junior quarterback Jalen Greene is a dual threat quarterback who can hurt you with his arm or legs.
Senior receiver Darrell Fuery caught 11 touchdowns and has good size and body control. Oakdale doesn't have a BCS prospect on their roster but has a pair of 1,000 yard rushers in Marcus Northcutt and Nikk Ryan.
Quarterback Spencer Thomas has thrown for 1,671 yards and 25 touchdowns and Austin Jones is a deep threat who caught 48 balls for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Saturday: CIF State Football Championship Open Division Bowl Game- Corona (Calif.) Centennial vs. Concord (Calif.) De La Salle at
Home Depot Center at 8:00 p.m.
Centennial is known for their line play and they have one of the best tackles in the state in California commit Cameron Hunt.
Hunt could play tackle or guard in college and has landed offers in the last week from Oregon, Michigan and Nebraska. On the other side of the line, DE Garrett Hughes has also committed to Cal and has had a very solid season.
Junior QB
Robert Webber may not have the size to play at the next level but he has
dominated the competition this year. Webber has led the Huskies charge, but has
gotten a lot of help from receivers Ryan Pascarella and Chase Krivashei, who
both have come up with clutch catches in the last two weeks in game-sealing
drives, against pretty vaunted secondaries.
De La Salle is still the only
school to appear in every state bowl game, making their seventh straight trip to
Carson, and they're aiming for their fourth consecutive CIF State Open Division
title.
The state's top program features a loaded roster, headlined by U.S. Army All-American Michael Hutchings, a four-star outside linebacker who's committed to USC. He leads the Spartans' vaunted linebacker corps, that includes three-stars Victor Egu
(Cal) and D.J. Moffitt.
The Spartans were without Austin Hooper for part of the
year, but the three star linebacker is back and healthy, and last week he had
three sacks in their shellacking of Folsom.
Also on the defensive line, Sumner Houston, a 2014 prospect, who's the younger brother of Wisconsin freshman quarterback Bart Houston, reminds many of former Spartan four-star and current Oregon State defensive lineman Dylan Wynn.
Another 2014 prospect to remember is offensive lineman Larry Allen Jr., the son
of former NFL All-Pro lineman Larry Allen.
