Although not unexpected, the departure of former coach Jim Harbaugh to the NFL and the possible coaching staff changes that could accompany his exit are certain to raise questions among some Cardinal commits. The Bootleg caught up with 2011 Georgia four-star linebacker James Vaughters to get his reaction to the coaching change.

Andy Drukarev, The Bootleg: Have you been in touch with any coach/administrator from Stanford since the news came down? And did any of the assistant coaches visit you after the Orange Bowl?
James Vaughters: I talked with the defensive coordinator yesterday after the announcement, Coach Vic Fangio. There is a lot of uncertainty among the staff with the announcement. I didn't have any visits after the Orange Bowl, probably because I was in Orlando for the Under Armour All America game until Thursday.

TB: Have you talked with any fellow commits about the coaching change, and what impact do you think Harbaugh leaving will have on this year's recruiting class?
JV: I have only communicated with a few of the commitments and I believe we will all be in a 'wait-and-see' mode to see what happens with the current staff and who Stanford brings in to replace Coach Harbaugh. I have to believe most of us see the value in a Stanford education beyond Coach Harbaugh and we all have relationships with either the offensive or defensive coordinator, as well as our position coach. Don't get me wrong, Coach Harbaugh was an important part of the equation, but not the only part.

TB: What other schools have been in touch with you, and what visits (if any) do you plan on taking before signing day?
JV: I have been in contact with The Ohio State University, University of Florida, Southern Cal, and the University of Miami. I am planning to visit Stanford next weekend and then Florida and Ohio State, and if possible, University of Miami.

TB: Ultimately, what do you think the chances are that you end up at Stanford?
JV: I think the chances are still very good that I will attend Stanford. The things I like about Stanford are still there...a great academic reputation, great student body, great players/teammates, extensive academic support, great people and a highly skilled coaching staff and the ability to play for a National Championship. I could go on about the things I really like about Stanford, but those are the key reasons for me.
